RALEIGH, N.C. — Those making outdoor plans for the weekend will enjoy lots of sunshine and mild temperatures as fall-like weather will stay put across central and eastern North Carolina for the next several days, according to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.

Highs Thursday and Friday will top out in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees under partly cloudy skies thanks to a an area of high pressure that is sliding southward toward the Triangle.

"Fall is creeping in, but we're looking at several consecutive days of beautiful weather," Gardner said. "Our humidity levels will be low, and we'll get to enjoy lots of sunshine."

During the weekend, abundant sunshine will push daytime highs into the low 80s on both Saturday and Sunday, near normal for late September.

Overnight lows will dip into the upper 50s to low 60s for the next several nights.

"If you're going to a football game Friday night or on Saturday, the weather is going to be great," Gardner said.

Skies will remain clear early next week, and daytime highs in the mid-70s will arrive by Tuesday.
