10-year-old boy shot in leg in Rocky Mount

A 10-year-old boy was shot in the leg Wednesday night in Rocky Mount.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A 10-year-old boy was shot in the leg Wednesday night in Rocky Mount.

Around 11:50 p.m., officers with the Rocky Mount Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 600 block of Dexter Street.

The boy suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the left thigh, according to police. He was transported to Nash UNC Health Care for treatment.

Investigators determined the shooting was accidental.

The boy is in stable condition.
