Restaurant preparing school lunches receives 'C' health grade
A Fayetteville restaurant making lunches for a nearby school received a “C” health score.
The K&W Cafeteria on Ownes Drive received a health score of 78, a “C,” on Friday.
The inspection revealed pizza for the lunches was being vacuum-sealed and stored in a freezer for at least a week.
The restaurant experienced other issues, such as spoiled and moldy vegetables, ketchup contaminated with debris and uncovered items stored under an actively leaking condenser.
5 on Your Side reached out to the restaurant. The restaurant’s child nutrition director told 5 on Your Side they didn’t know anything about the grade, but they haven’t had any issues or illnesses connected to the food.
The nutrition director said they’re now investigating the problems.
5 On Your Side reached out to K&W’s parent company and are waiting to hear back.
