82nd Airborne paratrooper killed in shooting on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville

A Fort Liberty soldier with the 82nd Airborne was killed in a shooting Saturday morning in Fayetteville.

Jonah Taylor, 21, was a paratrooper assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, the division confirmed. 

“PFC Jonah Taylor was an exceptional paratrooper, a great teammate and an outstanding young man," said Col. Todd Burroughs, commander of 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. "His loss is tragic, and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends and those with whom he served in the Falcon Brigade."

Around 3:11 a.m., police responded to the 5300 block of Ramsey Street in reference to shots being fired. Investigators discovered a victim, Taylor. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center by a personal vehicle, where he died.
